Case File 42 - PERU
Case File 42 is a standout washed coffee that makes a strong case for why Peru deserves far more respect than it usually gets. Clean and juicy from the first sip, it unfolds in deliberate layers—chocolate grounding the cup, followed by flashes of peach, orange, and ripe papaya that keep things lively without ever tipping into chaos. There’s a brightness here, but it’s controlled and confident, more precision than punch, giving the coffee energy without sharp edges.
Every year, I make it a priority to feature a handful of Peruvian coffees, because when they’re sourced with intention, they consistently deliver depth, clarity, and real character—not hype. This particular lot, imported by our friends at Royal Coffee, is a textbook example of what Peru can do when everything clicks. Quietly complex, effortlessly drinkable, and unapologetically good, it’s the kind of coffee that rewards attention and lingers long after the cup is empty.
